<dc:description>Stele C is the third monument from the left (west) in the row of stelae in front of Building 1 and stood between Stele B and D (Morley 1937-1938, IV:25). The monument is broken and overturned near the ground. When it was discovered by Gann in late 1927 or early 1928 (Morley 1937-1938, IV:25), the monument consisted of the stela base (fragment 4), one large fragment (fragment 3) and two small fragments (fragments 1 and 2) scattered on the ground (Joyce et al. 1928:330; Morley 1937-1938, IV:25). The base of the stela stood vertically in the ground in its original position, fragment 3 lay a few metres north of the stump of the stela with its sculpted face downwards (Morley 1937-1938, IV:25). There is no information on the find situation of the two small fragments. Since the bas-relief was also preserved on these fragments, they probably also lay with their front facing downwards.
