<p>The encoding was carried out following principles of the Göttingen TEI-Micropublication Project, which are:</p>
<p>Page breaks are encoded using <tag>pb</tag> <att>n</att> to preserve pagination.</p>
			<p>Use of <tag>head</tag> for headers.</p>
<p>Use of <tag>lg</tag> <att>type</att> <val>poem</val> for independent poems and <tag>lg</tag> <att>type</att> <val>stanza</val> for stanzas. Use of <tag>l</tag> for poems with the <att>n</att> with the number of verse.</p>
<p>Dialogue and speech displayed in different blocks in the original text are encoded using <tag>sp</tag> with <tag>speaker</tag> elements to distinguish voices.</p>
<p>Quotations are marked with <tag>cit</tag>, <tag>quote</tag> and (when necessary) <tag>epigraph</tag>, with the possibility of using full bibliographic information provided in <tag>bibl</tag> using persistent identifiers (GND and Wikidata).</p>
			<p>Use of <tag>name</tag> <att>type</att> <val>person</val> <att>ref</att> for people, <tag>name</tag> <att>type</att> <val>organisation</val> for organisations and <tag>name</tag> <att>type</att> <val>place</val> <ref>ref</ref> for locations, linking to external authority files (GND).</p>
<p>Emphasis and stylistic features (e.g., italicised) are marked with <att>rend</att> attributes.</p>
<p>Sections written in a language other than the main language of the text are marked using the attribute <att>xml:lang</att>.</p>
<p>Line breaks in verses and headers are marked with the <tag>lb</tag>.</p>
<p>Line breaks are not kept in other elements. In the case of line breaks between words, the new line is replaced with a space. If there is a line break within a word, hyphenation is normalised by joining the word parts and removing the hyphen. The resulting word is rendered as a single unit.</p>
<p>Clear spelling errors are corrected. Historical orthographic variants are preserved as in the original. Historical characters, such as <c>ſ</c>, are also preserved. White space between words and punctuation are modernised.</p>
